Interactive Language Wall Pieces
Until we meet again,
This was a special request from one of my Uppers. They were having some trouble with sentence dictation in class and wanted to practice. So I thought of a way to make it more enjoyable and to maybe help sentences make more sense. I hid different words around my classroom and my Upper had to figure out which word went where in the sentence. If you look closely, you can see where I drew lines on the board as a guide for each sentence. In the beginning of working with this skill, I also capitalized the first letter in the sentence and added ending punctuation to the last word. The circled words are from their weekly Spelling list.
I inherited these sentence blocks from my mom. After my Upper mastered the Sentence Scavenger Hunt, we gave these blocks a try. Even though they were tricky, my Upper was able to build a few sentences. I separated out what they had already learned in class and added a few rules for building each sentence. It took thought and patience, but overall, my Upper was able to complete the task. Since I didn't purchase the blocks myself, I'm not 100% sure where Mom got them. I found something similar on Amazon. You can view them here.
